The Windsor Palette and Brush Club was organized in 1960 by a small group of amateur and professional artists. They felt that Windsor should have an organization to further the interest of the visual arts.

Mrs. Helen Schaefer became the first president. Other founding members were Mae Sheron, Alice Morgan, Ann Alford, Barbara Rose, Paul Suto, Pearl Johnson, Harriet Ahern, Jan Dagenhart, Mr. Sinaguglia, Catherine Craig, and Barbara Van Winkeln.

Over the years, the club has held exhibits on the town green, in banks, in the Windsor Public library, and currently in the Windsor Town Hall. In keeping with the aim to promote art awareness in town, the club has donated art equipment to the recreation center and art books and videos to the Windsor Public Library.

In 2005 the Club became affiliated with the Town of Windsor Department of Recreation and Leisure Services and is working to increase opportunities for local residents to participate in the visual arts.

The excitement and enthusiasm the group has inspired has stimulated many members to greater efforts with the result that one time amateurs are now recognized as accomplished and working professionals. There is a good balance of artists in all stages of development working together.
